‘Smock Challenge’ catches attention of international fashion icon
International fashion icon and the CEO of Abrantie the Gentleman, Oheneba Yaw Boamah, has called on influential personalities in Northern Ghana to join the #SmockChallenge currently trending on social media.
This he believes will ensure the trend travels wide and far.

“People who are well-known should try to join the trend in order to spread it around the country” he told Justicefmonline’s Prince Barak on Sunday in an exclusive interview.
The fashion icon who was in Tamale for a master class program organized by Guinness Ghana for creative art industry players, endorsed the #SmockChallenge, noting that it is an excellent project that can bring development to the entire Northern Region as a whole because it promotes the culture of the region.

Abrantie added that it is everyone’s obligation, particularly the media and smock weavers in the area, to support the trend.
He invited politicians and celebrities from the region to participate in the challenge.
Mr. Yaw Boamah encouraged smock weavers to focus on producing high-quality smocks, stressing that the smock fabric could also be used in a variety of ways rather than the one-way style of weaving.

The #SmockChallenge was started by Dagombas on social media, ahead of the 2week long annual Damba festival currently underway.
The challenge is to promote the wearing of the beautiful traditional wear of the Dagomba people, the smock, locally known as “Bingmaa” among social media users.
