Bawku: Baby dumped in a public toilet to die found and rescued.

A report from a local media outlet in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region of Ghana can confirm that a baby dumped at a public toilet in Sabon Zongo in the Bawku Municipality is saved and currently receiving treatment in a disclosed Heath facility in the area. reports that the caretaker of a public toilet in Sabon Zongo, a suburb of Bawku in the Upper East region had in the 18th hours of Wednesday, February 16, 2022 had discovered and rescued a baby believed to be a day old who allegedly was dumped to perish at the public toilet facility.

The website reported that the caretaker whose name is not mentioned, was at the toilet facility at about 6pm on the said day to perform his normal routine of cleaning when he discovered the baby wrapped in a whitish material and dumped inside the tissue bin in one of the rooms at the female chamber to die.

Speaking to the media about the incident, the Assembly member of the area, Hon Jamiwu expressed his displeasure in the development while he confirmed to have taken the baby to the Presbyterian Hospital in Bawku for medical attention.

The mother of the baby has since not been found though investigations are initiated to discover her. The assembly member has however appealed to the people of the area to assist the authorities with any relevant information that will aid and foster the investigation.
